   2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الشَّيْخَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَسْتَيْقِظُ مِنْ نَوْمِهِ وَلَمْ يَبُلْ أَ يُدْخِلُ يَدَهُ فِي الإِنَاءِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْسِلَهَا قَالَ لاَ لأَنَّهُ لاَ يَدْرِي أَيْنَ كَانَتْ يَدُهُ فَلْيَغْسِلْهَا.

A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ibn Muskan from abu Basir from ‘Abd al-Karim ibn ‘Utbah who has said the following: “I once asked the Shaykh, ’Is it permissible for a man who wakes up to place his hand in the water container before urinating?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘No, he cannot do so because he does not know where his hands may have been. He must wash them first.’”

   3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ شِهَابِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الرَّجُلِ الْجُنُبِ يَسْهُو فَيَغْمِسُ يَدَهُ فِي الإِنَاءِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَغْسِلَهَا أَنَّهُ لاَ بَأْسَ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ أَصَابَ يَدَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ.

   3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Shihab ibn ‘Abd Rabbihi who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘Can a man immerse his hands in the water container before washing them?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘Yes, he can do so, provided they have not touched any unclean substance.’”

   4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ رَزِينٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا (عَلَيْهِما الْسَّلام) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَبُولُ وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ يَدَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ أَ يَغْمِسُهَا فِي الْمَاءِ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنْ كَانَ جُنُباً.

   4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-ffusayn, from Ali ibn al-Hakam, from ‘Ala’ ibn Razin, from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked one of the two Imam, ‘Alayhim al-Salam, about a man who urinates but does not touch anything, must he wash it with water? He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, if he has experienced sexual relation.’”

   5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنِ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ سُئِلَ كَمْ يُفْرِغُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى يَدِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهَا فِي الإِنَاءِ قَالَ وَاحِدَةً مِنْ حَدَثِ الْبَوْلِ وَثِنْتَيْنِ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ وَثَلاَثَةً مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ.

   5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hammad from al-Halabiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, was asked about how many times one must wash his hands before immersing them in the water container. He (the Imam) said, ‘Once, because of urination, twice because of defecation and three times because of sexual relation.’”

   6ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ بَكَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) الرَّجُلُ يَضَعُ الْكُوزَ الَّذِي يَغْرِفُ بِهِ مِنَ الْحُبِّ فِي مَكَانٍ قَذِرٍ ثُمَّ يُدْخِلُهُ الْحُبَّ قَالَ يَصُبُّ مِنَ الْمَاءِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَكُفٍّ ثُمَّ يَدْلُكُ الْكُوزَ.

   6. Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl from those whom he has mentioned from Yunus from Bakkar ibn abu Bakr who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of a mug with which one takes water from a large water container but one places it on a dirty place, then immerses it in the large water container. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must pour water on the mug three times and rub it.’”

   1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي مِيزَابَيْنِ سَالاَ أَحَدُهُمَا بَوْلٌ وَالآخَرُ مَاءُ الْمَطَرِ فَاخْتَلَطَا فَأَصَابَ ثَوْبَ رَجُلٍ لَمْ يَضُرَّهُ ذَلِكَ.

   1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hisham ibn al-Hakam who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about two drain-shoots; one is rain water and the other urine which mix with each other and drops thereof sprinkle over one’s clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful (when it still is raining).”’

   2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْهَيْثَمِ بْنِ أَبِي مَسْرُوقٍ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ مِسْكِينٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ لَوْ أَنَّ مِيزَابَيْنِ سَالاَ أَحَدُهُمَا مِيزَابُ بَوْلٍ وَالآخَرُ مِيزَابُ مَاءٍ فَاخْتَلَطَا ثُمَّ أَصَابَكَ مَا كَانَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ.

   2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Haytham ibn abu Masruq from al-Hakam ibn Miskin from Muhammad ibn Marwan who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that if two drain-shoots, one with rain water and the other with urine mix, and drops thereof sprinkle over one’s clothes, it is not harmful for him.”

   3ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ الْكَاهِلِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ أَمُرُّ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَيَسِيلُ عَلَيَّ الْمِيزَابُ فِي أَوْقَاتٍ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ النَّاسَ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ قَالَ قَالَ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ لاَ تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُ قُلْتُ وَيَسِيلُ عَلَيَّ مِنْ مَاءِ الْمَطَرِ أَرَى فِيهِ التَّغَيُّرَ وَأَرَى فِيهِ آثَارَ الْقَذَرِ فَتَقْطُرُ الْقَطَرَاتُ عَلَيَّ وَيَنْتَضِحُ عَلَيَّ مِنْهُ وَالْبَيْتُ يُتَوَضَّأُ عَلَى سَطْحِهِ فَيَكِفُ عَلَى ثِيَابِنَا قَالَ مَا بِذَا بَأْسٌ لاَ تَغْسِلْهُ كُلُّ شَيْ‏ءٍ يَرَاهُ مَاءُ الْمَطَرِ فَقَدْ طَهُرَ.

   3. Ahmad ibn Muhammad from has narrated from Ali ibn al-Hakam from al-Kahiliy from a man who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I sometimes, pass by and water from a drain-shoot falls on me. At such time, I know, people take Wudu’. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful. You do not need to ask (inquire).’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘What happens if rain water falls on me and I see its color is changed; there are signs of dirt with it and several drops sprinkle and fall on me, while on the roof of the house people take Wudu’. Should we keep our clothes on us in such condition?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful. You do not need to wash your clothes. Everything and substance which has become unclean turns clean when rain falls on it.’”

   4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ فِي طِينِ الْمَطَرِ أَنَّهُ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ أَنْ يُصِيبَ الثَّوْبَ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ إِلاَّ أَنْ يُعْلَمَ أَنَّهُ قَدْ نَجَّسَهُ شَيْ‏ءٌ بَعْدَ الْمَطَرِ فَإِنْ أَصَابَهُ بَعْدَ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ فَاغْسِلْهُ وَإِنْ كَانَ الطَّرِيقُ نَظِيفاً لَمْ تَغْسِلْهُ.

   4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from certain persons of our people who have said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about soil which is found with rain water. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful up to three days unless it is found out to have become Najis (unclean) by something after rainfall. If such drops sprinkle after three days, then you must wash, but if the road is clean, then you do not need to wash.’”

    5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنِ الأحْوَلِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْخَلاَءِ فَأَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ فَيَقَعُ ثَوْبِي فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَاءِ الَّذِي اسْتَنْجَيْتُ بِهِ فَقَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ.

    5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from ibn ’Udhaynah from al-Ahwal who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I may use the toilet and then wash to clean myself but my clothes touch the water which was used for cleaning. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

    6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ شِهَابِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي الْجُنُبِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَيَقْطُرُ الْمَاءُ عَنْ جَسَدِهِ فِي الإِنَاءِ وَيَنْتَضِحُ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الأرْضِ فَيَصِيرُ فِي الإِنَاءِ إِنَّهُ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهَذَا كُلِّهِ.

    6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Shihab ibn ‘Abd Rabbihi who has said the following: “It is about the case of a man who takes Ghusl (bath) and water-drops from his body sprinkle into the water container and from the ground. Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

    7ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ فِي الرَّجُلِ الْجُنُبِ يَغْتَسِلُ فَيَنْتَضِحُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فِي الإِنَاءِ فَقَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ ما جَعَلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ مِنْ حَرَجٍ.

    7. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Rib‘i ibn ‘Abd Allah from al-Fudayl ibn Yasar who has said the following: “It is about a man who takes Ghusl (bath) due to sexual matters and water drops sprinkle into the water container. Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘It is not harmful. Allah has not sanctioned anything in religion which causes hardships for you.”’

    8ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُعَلَّى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَغْتَسِلُ فِي مُغْتَسَلٍ يُبَالُ فِيهِ وَيُغْتَسَلُ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ فَيَقَعُ فِي الإِنَاءِ مَاءٌ يَنْزُو مِنَ الأرْضِ فَقَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ.

    8. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Mu‘alla’ ibn Muhammad, from af-Washsha’, from Hammad ibn ‘Uthman, from ‘Umar ibn Yazid who has said the foiiowing: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘I may take Ghusl (bath) in a place which is used for taking Ghusl (bath) due to sexual matters, and urination and water-drops sprinkle from the ground into the water container.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

    1ـ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنِ ابْنِ جُمْهُورٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ لاَ تَغْتَسِلْ مِنَ الْبِئْرِ الَّتِي تَجْتَمِعُ فِيهَا غُسَالَةُ الْحَمَّامِ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا غُسَالَةَ وَلَدِ الزِّنَا وَهُوَ لاَ يَطْهُرُ إِلَى سَبْعَةِ آبَاءٍ وَفِيهَا غُسَالَةَ النَّاصِبِ وَهُوَ شَرُّهُمَا إِنَّ الله لَمْ يَخْلُقْ خَلْقاً شَرّاً مِنَ الْكَلْبِ وَإِنَّ النَّاصِبَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَى الله مِنَ الْكَلْبِ قُلْتُ أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ مَاءِ الْحَمَّامِ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ الْجُنُبُ وَالصَّبِيُّ وَالْيَهُودِيُّ وَالنَّصْرَانِيُّ وَالْمَجُوسِيُّ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَاءَ الْحَمَّامِ كَمَاءِ النَّهَرِ يُطَهِّرُ بَعْضُهُ بَعْضاً.

    1. Certain persons of our people have narrated from ibn Jumhur from Muhammad ibn al-Qasim from ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Do not take Ghusl (bath) from a well in which water from bath houses accumulate, because in it there is water which is used by one born out of wedlock and it does not become clean for seven generations. In it there is water used by one hostile to ’A’immah, ‘Alayhim al-Salam. One who is hostile to ’A’immah, Alayhim al-Salam, is the worse than the two others. Allah has not created a creature more evil than the dog but one hostile to ’A’immah is more worthless than a dog.’ I then asked him (the Imam) about the water of bathhouses from which one involved in sexual activities, children, Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians take Ghusl (bath). He (the Imam) said, ‘It is like canals in which one part of water cleanses the other part.’”

    2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ مَاءُ الْحَمَّامِ لاَ بَأْسَ بِهِ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَهُ مَادَّةٌ.

    2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Safwan ibn Yahya from Mansur ibn Hazim from Bakr ibn Habib who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Water of bathhouses does not have problems if it is water from a large source; like a fountain.’”

    3ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ حَنَانٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلاً يَقُولُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) إِنِّي أَدْخُلُ الْحَمَّامَ فِي السَّحَرِ وَفِيهِ الْجُنُبُ وَغَيْرُ ذَلِكَ فَأَقُومُ فَأَغْتَسِلُ فَيَنْتَضِحُ عَلَيَّ بَعْدَ مَا أَفْرُغُ مِنْ مَائِهِمْ قَالَ أَ لَيْسَ هُوَ جَارٍ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ.

    3. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amir from Ali ibn Mahziyar from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Hanan who has said the following: “I once heard a man saying to abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘In the morning I enter the bathhouse and there is one who has experienced sexual relation and so on. I then stand up and take Ghusl (bath) and water from them sprinkles on me after I finish.’ He (the Imam) asked, ‘Is it not running water?’

    4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى الْوَاسِطِيِّ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْمَاضِي (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ سُئِلَ عَنْ مَجْمَعِ الْمَاءِ فِي الْحَمَّامِ مِنْ غُسَالَةِ النَّاسِ يُصِيبُ الثَّوْبَ قَالَ لاَ بَأْسَ.

    4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from abu Yahya al-Wasitiy from certain persons of our people who have said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, the one before, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, was asked about accumulated water in bathhouses used by people which pollutes clothes. He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not harmful.’”

    5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَيْنِ الْفَارِسِيِّ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) الْمَاءُ الَّذِي تُسَخِّنُهُ الشَّمْسُ لاَ تَوَضَّئُوا بِهِ وَلاَ تَغْتَسِلُوا بِهِ وَلاَ تَعْجِنُوا بِهِ فَإِنَّهُ يُورِثُ الْبَرَصَ.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father, from al-Hassan ibn abu al-Husayn al-Farisiy, from Sulayman ibn Ja‘far, from ’Isma‘il ibn abu Ziyad who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Do not use water which is heated by sun rays for Wudu’, Ghusl (bath) or to turn flour into dough with it; it causes leprosy.’”

Ahmad ibn Idris has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar from Safwan ibn Yahya from ‘Asim ibn Humayd who has said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that once a man asked Ali ibn Al-Husayn, ‘Alayhi al- Salam, ‘Where should outsiders take Wudu’?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘They should avoid places like the banks of the canals, open roads, under fruit-bearing trees and places that may subject one to public condemnation.’ Someone asked, ‘What kind of places are such?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘One example is the front portions of the doors of houses.’”

    3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بِإِسْنَادِهِ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) مَا حَدُّ الْغَائِطِ قَالَ لاَ تَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلاَ تَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَلاَ تَسْتَقْبِلِ الرِّيحَ وَلاَ تَسْتَدْبِرْهَا. وَرُوِيَ أَيْضاً فِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ لاَ تَسْتَقْبِلِ الشَّمْسَ وَلاَ الْقَمَرَ.

    3. Muhammad ibn Yahya through the chain of his narrators in a marfu‘ manner has said the following: “Abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, was asked about (one’s condition) when defecating. He (the Imam) said, ‘One should not face the direction of al-Ka‘bah, turn one’s back toward al-Ka‘bah, face the direction from which wind blows or turn one’s back to such direction.’” It is narrated in another Hadith that one should not face toward the sun or moon (when using the toilet).

    4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Holy prophet prohibited one’s allowing his urine to sprinkle from rooftops or high places in the air.”

    5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ خَرَجَ أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ مِنْ عِنْدِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَأَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَائِمٌ وَهُوَ غُلاَمٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ يَا غُلاَمُ أَيْنَ يَضَعُ الْغَرِيبُ بِبَلَدِكُمْ فَقَالَ اجْتَنِبْ أَفْنِيَةَ الْمَسَاجِدِ وَشُطُوطَ الأنْهَارِ وَمَسَاقِطَ الثِّمَارِ وَمَنَازِلَ النُّزَّالِ وَلاَ تَسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ وَلاَ بَوْلٍ وَارْفَعْ ثَوْبَكَ وَضَعْ حَيْثُ شِئْتَ.

    5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated in a marfu‘ manner the following: “Once, abu Hanifah came out of a meeting with abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam. Abu al-Hassan, Musa, a young boy at that time, was standing in the meeting place. Abu Hanifah asked him, ‘O young man, where does an outsider relieve himself of nature’s demand in your town?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘You must avoid the courtyard of a Masjid, banks of canals, places where fruits fall from trees and people’s rest areas. Do not face the direction of al-Ka‘bah, when defecating or urinating and keep your clothes away (from pollution). Thereafter relieve yourself wherever you like.’”

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from Salih ibn ‘Uqbah from Ibrahim al-Karkhiy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah has said, ‘Three characteristics subject one to condemnation: Defecating in the shadows which are used as rest areas, obstructing people from reaching water for public use or public road.”

    1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) يَقُولُ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ الْمَخْرَجَ فَقُلْ بِسْمِ الله اللهمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخَبِيثِ الْمُخْبِثِ الرِّجْسِ النِّجْسِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ فَإِذَا خَرَجْتَ فَقُلْ بِسْمِ الله الْحَمْدُ لله الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِنَ الْخَبِيثِ الْمُخْبِثِ وَأَمَاطَ عَنِّي الأذَى وَإِذَا تَوَضَّأْتَ فَقُلْ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ الله اللهمَّ اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ التَّوَّابِينَ وَاجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ وَالْحَمْدُ لله رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ.

    1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from Mu‘awiyah ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I heard abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, say, ‘When going to a restroom say, “In the name of Allah, O Lord, I seek protection with You against filth and the filthy, unclean Satan, condemned to be stoned.” When coming out of a restroom say, “In the name of Allah, all praise belongs to Allah who has saved me from filth and filthy materials and has removed from me hardship.” When taking Wudu’ say, “I testify that no one, other than Allah, deserves to be worshipped. O Lord, make me of those who repent and of those who cleanse themselves. All praise belongs to Allah, the Cherisher of the worlds.’”

    2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا سَمَّيْتَ فِي الْوُضُوءِ طَهُرَ جَسَدُكَ كُلُّهُ وَإِذَا لَمْ تُسَمِّ لَمْ يَطْهُرْ مِنْ جَسَدِكَ إِلاَّ مَا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءُ.

    2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from ibn abu ‘Umayr from certain individuals of our people who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that when you mention the name of Allah in your Wudu’, the whole of your body is cleansed, but if you do not mention the name of Allah only the parts of your body over which water has passed are cleansed.”

    3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ibrahim ibn abu Mahmud who has said the following: “I heard abu al-Hassan, al-Rida, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, say, ‘One should get rid of remaining feces and urine by washing what is outside of the buttocks and there is no need to enter one’s fingers inside.’”

Ahmad ibn Idris has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn al-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from ‘Ammar al-Sabatiy who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘Should a man after using the toilet first wash his buttocks or his urethra?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘It is buttocks, then urethra.’”

    6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn ‘Abd Rabbihi who has said the following: “I once asked him (the Imam), ‘Is it permissible to wear a ring with a stone of Emerald?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘It is not harmful but during washing one’s self after using the toilet, one should remove it.’”

    7. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Nawfaliy from al-Sakuniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that washing one’s self with the right hand after using toilet is of injustice.” It is narrated in another Hadith that it is permissible if there something is wrong with the left hand.”

    8. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan all from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Jamil who has said the following: “Abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that when the gushing out of urine stops, you can pour water to wash it clean.”

    9ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ لِلاسْتِنْجَاءِ حَدٌّ قَالَ لاَ يُنَقَّى مَا ثَمَّةَ قُلْتُ فَإِنَّهُ يُنَقَّى مَا ثَمَّةَ وَيَبْقَى الرِّيحُ قَالَ الرِّيحُ لاَ يُنْظَرُ إِلَيْهَا.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn al-Mughirah who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ’How is washing oneself after using the toilet done? 5 He (the Imam) said, ‘It is not clean as long as something is there.’ I then asked, ‘What happens if everything there is washed clean but smell is there?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Smell is not a thing that can be seen.’”

    10ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَهْلٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَبُولُ فَيُصِيبُ فَخِذَهُ وَ رُكْبَتَهُ قَدْرَ نُكْتَةٍ مِنْ بَوْلٍ فَيُصَلِّي ثُمَّ يَذْكُرُ بَعْدُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَغْسِلْهُ قَالَ يَغْسِلُهُ وَيُعِيدُ صَلاَتَهُ.

Ali ibn Muhammad has narrated from Sahl from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from ‘Abd al-Karim ibn ‘Amr from al-Hassan ibn Ziyad who has said the following: “Once abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, was asked about a man whose thigh and knee come in contact with a small drop of urine. He performs Salah (prayer) then remembers that he had not washed it clean? He (the Imam) said, ‘He must perform his Salah (prayer) again.’”

    11ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَهْلٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِيَ كَيْفَ يَقْعُدُ قَالَ كَمَا يَقْعُدُ لِلْغَائِطِ وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَغْسِلَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهُ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَغْسِلَ بَاطِنَهُ.

Muhammad ibn al-Hassan has narrated from Sahl from Musa ibn al-Qasim from ‘Amr ibn Sa‘id from Musaddiq ibn Sadaqah from ‘Ammar who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, ‘A man wants to wash himself clean after using toilet. How should he sit?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘He sits just as he does when defecating.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘He only needs to wash the outside and not the inside.’”

    12ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَةَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) قَالَ لِبَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ مُرِي نِسَاءَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْ يَسْتَنْجِينَ بِالْمَاءِ وَيُبَالِغْنَ فَإِنَّهُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْحَوَاشِي وَمَذْهَبَةٌ لِلْبَوَاسِيرِ.

    12. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Ziyad who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Holy prophet once said to a certain one of his wives, ‘Instruct the believing women to wash themselves clean with water thoroughly; it cleanses the surrounding areas and removes the hemorrhoids.’”

    13ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ شَاذَانَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) قَالَ فِي قَوْلِ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّ الله يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ قَالَ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَسْتَنْجُونَ بِالْكُرْسُفِ وَالأحْجَارِ ثُمَّ أُحْدِثَ الْوُضُوءُ وَهُوَ خُلُقٌ كَرِيمٌ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ الله (صلّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) وَصَنَعَهُ وَأَنْزَلَ الله فِي كِتَابِهِ إِنَّ الله يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ.

    13. Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il has narrated from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan and Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Jamil ibn Darraj who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the words of Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, ‘Allah loves those who repent and cleanse themselves’, said, ‘People would cleanse themselves after using the toilet with cotton and stones. Thereafter, He (Allah) sanctioned Wudu’ and it is of the noble characteristics. The Messenger of Allah commanded people to take Wudu’ and himself performed it. Thereafter Allah revealed in His book, “Allah loves those who repent and those who cleanse themselves. (2:222)’”

    14ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ تَوَضَّأْتُ يَوْماً وَلَمْ أَغْسِلْ ذَكَرِي ثُمَّ صَلَّيْتُ فَسَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فَقَالَ اغْسِلْ ذَكَرَكَ وَأَعِدْ صَلاَتَكَ.

    14. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from ibn ’Udhaynah from Zurarah who has said the following: “One day I took Wudu’ but forgot to wash my urethra clean; then I performed Salah (prayer). I asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about it.

    15ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الرَّجُلِ يَبُولُ فَيَنْسَى غَسْلَ ذَكَرِهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَضَّأُ وُضُوءَ الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ يَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ يُعِيدُ الصَّلاَةَ وَلاَ يُعِيدُ الْوُضُوءَ.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Yaqtin from his brother, Al- Husayn, from Ali ibn Yaqtin who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who forgets to wash clean his urethra but he takes Wudu’ and performs Salah (prayer). He (the Imam) said, ’He must wash his urethra clean and perform his Salah (prayer) again, but he does not have to take Wudu’ again.’” H 3872, Ch. 12, h 16

    16ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي الرَّجُلِ يَبُولُ وَيَنْسَى أَنْ يَغْسِلَ ذَكَرَهُ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ وَيُصَلِّيَ قَالَ يَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ وَيُعِيدُ الصَّلاَةَ وَلاَ يُعِيدُ الْوُضُوءَ.

    16. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from Zur’ah, from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘After using toilet if you forget to wash clean your buttocks (because of feces) and take Wudu’, then remember after performing Salah (prayer), you must perform your Salah (prayer) again. If you wash your buttocks clean but forget washing your urethra clean and perform Salah (prayer), you must take Wudu’, wash your urethra and perform your Salah (prayer) again. It is because urine is not like feces.’”

    1ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) رَجُلٌ بَالَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ مَاءٌ فَقَالَ يَعْصِرُ أَصْلَ ذَكَرِهِ إِلَى طَرَفِهِ ثَلاَثَ عَصَرَاتٍ وَيَنْتُرُ طَرَفَهُ فَإِنْ خَرَجَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ شَيْ‏ءٌ فَلَيْسَ مِنَ الْبَوْلِ وَلَكِنَّهُ مِنَ الْحَبَائِلِ.

    1. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father, from Hammad, from Hariz, from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once asked Abu Ja’far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who urinates but does not have water to wash it clean. He (the Imam) said, ’He must drain his urine passageway by pressing (with his fingers), against the bones underneath, beginning from his buttocks and move upward, three times, to where the passageway separates from the bones. Then hold it (the passageway) between his two fingers (the thumb, forefinger) and middle finger, press and pull to the end of his penis three times. Then press its end three times. Thereafter if any moisture comes out it is not urine. Instead such moistures are considered of the moisture associated with the veins (and activities) of sexual organs.”

    2ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَبِي دَاوُدَ جَمِيعاً عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنْ رَجُلٍ بَالَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَقَامَ إِلَى الصَّلاَةِ فَوَجَدَ بَلَلاً قَالَ لاَ يَتَوَضَّأُ إِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ مِنَ الْحَبَائِلِ.

    2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from and abu Dawud all al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from Safwan ibn Yahya from al-‘Ala’ ibn abu Ya‘fur who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who urinates, then takes Wudu 5 . He then stands up for Salah (prayer) and finds a certain moisture. He (the Imam) said, ’He does not need Wudu 5 ; it is of Haba’il (passageways, veins).”

    3ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَشْيَمَ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ قَالَ سَأَلَ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) رَجُلٌ وَأَنَا حَاضِرٌ فَقَالَ إِنَّ بِي جُرْحاً فِي مَقْعَدَتِي فَأَتَوَضَّأُ وَأَسْتَنْجِي ثُمَّ أَجِدُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ النَّدَى وَالصُّفْرَةَ مِنَ الْمَقْعَدَةِ أَ فَأُعِيدُ الْوُضُوءَ فَقَالَ وَقَدْ أَنْقَيْتَ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ لاَ وَلَكِنْ رُشَّهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَلاَ تُعِدِ الْوُضُوءَ. أَحْمَدُ عَنْ أَبِي نَصْرٍ قَالَ سَأَلَ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) رَجُلٌ بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ صَفْوَانَ.

    3. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn Ahmad ibn ‘Ushaym from Safwan who has said the following: “Once a man asked al-Rida, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, when I was present, saying, ‘There is a wound in my anus. I take Wudu and wash clean; but then I find wetness and yellowness there. Do I need to take Wudu again ? He (the Imam) said, ‘Had you cleaned it? He replied, ‘Yes, I did so.’ He (the Imam) said, ‘No, but pour water on it and you do not need to take Wudu again.” Ahmad ibn abu Nasr has said that a man asked al-Rida, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, a question like that in Hadith of Safwan.

    4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فَقَالَ رُبَّمَا بُلْتُ وَلَمْ أَقْدِرْ عَلَى الْمَاءِ وَيَشْتَدُّ عَلَيَّ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ إِذَا بُلْتَ وَتَمَسَّحْتَ فَامْسَحْ ذَكَرَكَ بِرِيقِكَ فَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ شَيْئاً فَقُلْ هَذَا مِنْ ذَاكَ.

    4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Hanan ibn Sadir who has said the following: “Once a man asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘At times when I urinate, I cannot find water and it becomes severe for me . 5 He (the Imam) said, ‘When you urinate and wipe it clean, you can then wipe your penis with saliva; and if you find something then say it is of that (moisture from passageways and veins).”

    5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) الرَّجُلُ يَعْتَرِيهِ الْبَوْلُ وَلاَ يَقْدِرُ عَلَى حَبْسِهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي إِذَا لَمْ يَقْدِرْ عَلَى حَبْسِهِ فَالله أَوْلَى بِالْعُذْرِ يَجْعَلُ خَرِيطَةً.

    5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mughirah from Mansur ibn Hazim who has said the following: “I once asked abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a man who has the urge to urinate and cannot hold it any longer. He (the Imam) said to me, ‘If he is not able to hold, Allah is the foremost to accept apologies, he can allow it to come out in a bag.”

    6ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَعْدَانَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ كَتَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) فِي خَصِيٍّ يَبُولُ فَيَلْقَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ شِدَّةً وَيَرَى الْبَلَلَ بَعْدَ الْبَلَلِ قَالَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثُمَّ يَنْتَضِحُ فِي النَّهَارِ مَرَّةً وَاحِدَةً.

    6. Al-Husayn from Muhammad has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn Ishaq from Sa‘dan from ‘Abd al-Rahman who has said the following: “I once wrote to abu al-Hassan, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about a castrated man who when urinating feels great pain and finds wetness time after time. He (the Imam) said, ‘He must take Wudu 5 and pour water on it once during the day.”

    7ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَلاَءِ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) عَنِ الْبَوْلِ يُصِيبُ الْجَسَدَ قَالَ صُبَّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ مَرَّتَيْنِ. وَرُوِيَ أَنَّهُ يُجْزِئُ أَنْ يَغْسِلَ بِمِثْلِهِ مِنَ الْمَاءِ إِذَا كَانَ عَلَى رَأْسِ الْحَشَفَةِ وَغَيْرِهِ. وَرُوِيَ أَنَّهُ مَاءٌ لَيْسَ بِوَسَخٍ فَيَحْتَاجَ أَنْ يُدْلَكَ.

    7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Al-Husayn ibn abu al-‘Ala’ who has said the following: “I once asked abu ’Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about urine which pollutes the body. He (the Imam) said, Tour water on it twice.’ It is a narration that one can wash it with the same amount of water if it is on the tip of the penis or on something else. It also is a narration that it is water and not dirt and it needs to be dropped down.’”

    8ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ غَالِبِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ قَالَ بَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيْهِ الْسَّلام) وَأَنَا قَائِمٌ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَمَعِي إِدَاوَةٌ أَوْ قَالَ كُوزٌ فَلَمَّا انْقَطَعَ شَخْبُ الْبَوْلِ قَالَ بِيَدِهِ هَكَذَا إِلَيَّ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ بِالْمَاءِ فَتَوَضَّأَ مَكَانَهُ.

    8. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn al-Husayn from ibn Faddal from Ghalib ibn ‘Uthman from Rawh ibn ‘Abd al- Rahim who has said the following: “Once, abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, urinated. I was standing nearby with a water container or a jug. When the jet of urine stopped, he (the Imam) made a gesture with his hand for water and I gave it to him and he (the Imam) made Wudu’ at the same place.”

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from al-‘Ala’ from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘One of you in order to rub oil on his body covers his whole body with an amount of oil on his palm. Water, however, is more plentiful than this.”

    2. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and Muhammad ibn ’Isma‘il from al-Fadl ibn Shadhan from Hammad from Hariz from Zurarah and Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “Abu Ja‘far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Wudu’ is one of the boundaries Allah has established so that He finds out who obeys or disobeys Him. The believing people do not allow it (their body) to remain unclean. It is sufficient to use a small amount of water like rubbing oil on one’s body.’”
