What stays on your device

• Every calculation (prayer times, Qibla, Zakat, Khums, inheritance, Hijri age) runs locally, in your browser or in the app. The amounts you type are never sent to a server.
• Your location, if you allow it, is used only to compute times, the Qibla and nearby mosques on the device. It is never sent to the Union nor stored anywhere but your local settings.
• Your settings (city, calculation method, language, theme, reciter), bookmarks, reading progress and Zakat history are saved only on your device. You can clear them from the settings or by uninstalling the app.
• The Quran, the bundled hadith collections, the 99 Names and the cities ship inside the apps; reading them makes no request.

What the website measures

The website uses Google Analytics to count page views, anonymised: nothing typed into a tool is transmitted and no advertising profile is built. There are no ads, no social pixels and no browser fingerprinting. The mobile apps carry no analytics at all.

Third-party services called from your device

Some features query open services directly from your browser or phone, which therefore receive your IP address, as any Internet connection does:

None of these services receives your amounts, your settings or your identity.

• AlQuran.cloud and cdn.islamic.network for Quran translations and audio;
• fawazahmed0/hadith-api and Thaqalayn for hadith collections that are not bundled;
• HisnMuslim.com for supplications and their audio;
• OpenStreetMap and Overpass for the map and nearby mosques;
• open-meteo, ipwho.is, geojs and bigdatacloud to find a city from a name or an approximate IP location, only when you ask;
• currency-api for the gold and silver prices in the Zakat calculator.

Microphone and speech recognition

The Ayah Finder can listen to a few Arabic words to find a verse. The audio is processed by your device's speech recognition (Apple or Google) under their own terms; Ummi neither records nor transmits it.

Notifications and adhan

Prayer notifications and the adhan are scheduled locally on the device. No notification server is involved.

The member space

The member space is the only part of the Service that needs an account. It keeps:

In the apps your session is a token stored in the Keychain (iOS) or encrypted with the device's secure key (Android), excluded from backups. It expires after 90 days and you can sign out every device from your space.

This data serves only to run the member space. It is neither sold nor shared with third parties, except where the law requires.

• your name, e-mail address and password, stored hashed;
• if you enable them, your two-factor secrets and passkeys;
• the Zakat and Khums entries you choose to record there, the events you register for, and your membership of the Union's teams;
• technical logs (IP address, date, device) for sign-in security.

Your rights

You can view, correct or delete your account data from your space, or ask the Union to delete the account entirely. For the tools that need no account, the Union holds no data about you: everything is on your device.

Children

The Service does not knowingly collect any data from children; the account-free tools collect none, and the member space is reserved for members of the Union.

Changes

The Union may update this policy; the date at the top of the page shows the version in force.
