About the Islamic calendar
The Hijri calendar is the Islamic lunar calendar of twelve months in a year of 354–355 days. Ummi computes dates from the astronomical Umm al-Qura tables and marks the dates observed by the Ithna-ashari community.
They are the 13th, 14th and 15th of each Hijri month — nights of the full moon, when the Prophet ﷺ encouraged fasting. Ummi highlights them and can export them to your calendar.
A Hijri month begins after the crescent is sighted, so the date announced by the Union or your Marja‘ can fall a day before or after the astronomical table used here. When they differ, follow the announcement.
